Greg Louganis
The four-time Olympic gold medalist publicly announced his HIV-positive status during an interview with ABC’s 20/20 in 1995. Louganis admitted that he knew he had HIV when he competed in the 1988 Olympics but out of fear did not disclose his status. Published in 1996, his best-selling autobiography, Breaking the Surface, detailed his struggles as a gay man and a person living with HIV. He is currently on treatment.
