Understand the Side Effects
PrEP can cause nausea, diarrhea, stomach pain, headache and fatigue, but these side effects tend to go away after about 30 days. The most common side effect of long-acting injectable PrEP is injection site reactions, including pain, redness or swelling. If you have any side effects that persist, talk to your health care provider. Tell your doctor if develop any flu-like symptoms, such sore throat, fever or swollen glands, as these can be symptoms of acute HIV infection.
