The Recollectors
There is also the rich and complex world of online memorials, such as The Recollectors. The website was started in 2014 by Alysia Abbott and Whitney Joiner, friends who each had a father who died with HIV. The Recollectors is “dedicated to remembering parents lost to AIDS and to creating a digital community for their children.” It joins The AIDS Memorial account on Instagram and aspects of the Visual AIDS Artist Registry as online platforms where people can honor their loved ones and learn about people they never have had a chance to meet.
