Julie Blair & The Epidemic Saints Stickers
The music of Julie Blair & The Epidemic Saints is grounded in the experience of people living with HIV. Their first single is titled “The City of Otherly Love.” The band’s swag is similarly inclined. Described as the “missing poz friendly emoji,” the Epidemic Saints stickers feature a yellow happy face with a subtle eye wink of positive disclosure in the form of a plus sign. It’s a nod to HIV-positive people who may catch the visual nuance in public and possibly feel seen and welcome. The back of each new sticker reads: “Here’s a sticker so everyone knows your [sic] Poz Friendly.” The Saint stickers are a good example of how to have an AIDS memorial in an epidemic. They create an image that people who care about HIV can recognize, and—since they are for sale, and proceeds go directly to the band, whose members are living with HIV—the stickers provide direct resources to people living with the virus.
