Longtime Companion (1989)

A terrific cast leads this undeniably affecting film about the impact of the AIDS epidemic on a circle of gay friends. It’s known by many as “that movie where all their dead friends come back at the end,” and for good reason: The last 10 minutes of the film are nearly unbearably emotional. Bruce Davison deservedly won many awards and an Oscar nomination for his wrenching performance as a lover left behind.
