time bombI’ve chided gay bloggers for largely ignoring rising rates of HIV infection among gay men in the U.S. At current infection rates, close to half of today’s 20 year olds will become HIV positive by the time they reach 50 (if they reach that age). This is a disaster unfolding before our eyes, but most of us would rather look away.

So hats off to Kevin Ivers at the Citizen Crain blog for his post today about the latest CDC stats. He gets it exactly right on the long-overdue need for a national HIV/AIDS strategy.

I hope other gay bloggers will stop averting their eyes.
