By Jennifer Morton (Managing Editor, POZ)

Over the weekend, I learned Chloe Dzubilo passed away. Chloe’s first cover for POZ was the September 2002 issue. She posed with nine other HIV-positive individuals for a story on facial wasting. It was the first time a transgender person appeared on the cover of POZ.

I first met Chloe when she and 80 others participated in Spencer Tunick’s photo installation for our 10th anniversary cover of the May 2004 issue. Later that year she graced the cover of POZ once again for August 2004 issue.

She was a remarkable woman and a fierce activist and will be missed by many. Rest in peace Chloe.
