The four leaders speaking at the hearing were Ambassador-at-Large Deborah L. Birx, MD, who is the coordinator of U.S. Government Activities to Combat HIV/AIDS and special representative for global health diplomacy with the U.S. State Department; Mark Dybul, MD, the executive director of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria; Sir Elton John, the founder of the Elton John AIDS Foundation; and Rick Warren, D.Min, the pastor of Saddleback Church.
Senator Lindsey Graham is the chairman of the Senate subcommittee.
