San Diego’s Office of Compliance is investigating complaints against the Family Health Centers of San Diego and San Ysidro Health Center’s HIV/AIDS services, San Diego News Network reports. Findings from the investigation are expected in 30 to 45 days.
According to the article, the allegations against the two organizations include misused funds, poor patient treatment and staff misconduct. Both community-based organizations receive federal Ryan White funding for their HIV/AIDS services.
“[We] cannot speculate on the allegations…but [the federal government’s Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA)] expects that its grantees provide quality care that affords patients dignity and respect,” said a spokesperson for HRSA, which administers Ryan White funding.
The San Ysidro Health Center received about $15 million in federal funding, and Family Health Centers of San Diego received about $9 million in federal funding.
