Gay men in Ontario, Canada, who may have been exposed to HIV during consensual sex will now be able to receive free post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) in a pilot project, Xtra! reports. Sexual assault victims were mostly already covered for PEP as were health care workers who may get exposed at work. The Ontario HIV Treatment Network, along with Ottawa Public Health, The AIDS Committee of Ottawa and the Ottawa Hospital, launched the initiative. PEP will be available at no cost in Ottawa at the Gay Zone of the Centretown Community Health Centre and the Sexual Health Centre.
