Wednesday, April 18, marks National Transgender HIV Testing Day (NTHTD). Sponsored by the University of San Francisco’s Center of Excellence for Transgender Health, the awareness day stresses the importance of regular HIV testing among this population.
According to the center’s website, about 1.4 million adults in the United States identify as transgender. Transgender women, especially those of color, are at particularly high risk for HIV (less research has been done on transgender men).
