A resolution by the U.S. Conference of Mayors calls for the elimination of HIV-specific criminal laws. Further, it seeks to implement approaches to HIV within the civil and criminal justice systems that are consistent with the treatment of similar health and safety risks. The resolution also supports the Repeal HIV Discrimination Act introduced into Congress, which addresses these issues. The group adopted numerous other resolutions ranging from social to economic concerns during its June meeting in Las Vegas.
