Some pastors at Pentecostal churches in Kenya are claiming to cure people of their HIV, then burning their antiretroviral (ARV) medications, Religion News Service reports. The “cure” is not free. Some people have given their life savings to receive such prayer healings. According to INERELA+, an international interfaith network of religious leaders living with HIV, an average of 10 people a month in Nairobi succumb to these healings. The group has recorded about 2,000 such cases across the country.
