Effective July 25, Jonathan “Jono” Mermin, MD, MPH, is the new director of the National Center for HIV/AIDS, Viral Hepatitis, STD and TB Prevention (NCHHSTP) at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), according to AIDS.gov. Previously, he was the director of the Division of HIV/AIDS Prevention at the CDC. Mermin joined the CDC in 1995. He has nearly two decades of experience with these diseases both domestically and in Africa. He succeeds Kevin Fenton, MD, as director of NCHHSTP.
