Testing every person in India for HIV every five years would be cost effective and save millions of lives for decades, according to a statement from Brown University, which participated in an analysis published in the journal PLOS ONE by a team of researchers. The findings are based on the concept that most people in India who are HIV positive do not know their status and that testing and treatment are relatively cheap and available.
