Health People, a community education group in the Bronx, New York, which uses a peer-education model to provide services for people living with HIV/AIDS and other diseases, has launched two new initiatives for women, according to a Health People statement. In partnership with Narco Freedom, a drug treatment center, the first new initiative focuses on treating women for trauma and abuse as part of their HIV/AIDS prevention and care. In partnership with the Albert Einstein School of Medicine, the second new initiative focuses on testing and understanding the best use of social media to reach women with effective HIV prevention and care messages. The Bronx has the most women living with HIV/AIDS of any borough in New York City.
