The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria has launched a new funding model to provide more effective investments with greater impact, according to a Global Fund statement. The new model will give countries more flexibility on when they apply for funds and more predictability on the level of available funding. Up to $1.9 billion may be available for the transition period from 2013 to 2014. Full implementation will start in early 2014 and will grant money for the 2014 to 2016 period.
