Nadja Benaissa, a German singer arrested April 11 when she was accused of causing grievous bodily harm by exposing three male partners to HIV, was acquitted on Tuesday following 10 days in police custody, The Associated Press reports.
Prosecutors said the member of popular German group No Angels—which has sold more than 5 million albums—was suspected of having unprotected sex with three men between 2004 and 2006 without disclosing her alleged HIV status. One of the men tested HIV positive as a consequence, prosecutors said.
Benaissa’s release has been ordered under unspecified circumstances, said Darmstadt administrative court vice president Albrecht Simon.
