An Egyptian Army doctor announced at a news conference that Egypt’s military had invented a machine that can cure both HIV and the hepatitis C virus (HCV), The New York Times reports.
Major General Ibrahim Abdul Atti claims the cures are the result of 22 years of his research. A government video of the device at work shows what looks like a hand exerciser connected to a long, swiveling antennae, as well as several patients hooked up to a box-like machine. Part of the Army treatment also involves ground meat.
Military officials claim the treatment works by breaking apart the diseases in the bloodstream and returning purified blood back into the body. International health experts have met the assertions with widespread skepticism.
