An online survey by researchers at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill hopes to find out what HIV-positive people think about cure research and whether they’re willing to participate in HIV cure-related research.
Anyone 18 and older living with HIV in the United States can take the survey, which takes 45 to 60 minutes to complete. As the researchers note, “The understanding of perspectives of people living with HIV is important in establishing and maintaining public trust in and support for the HIV cure research agenda.”
Specifically, the survey authors said they are interested in finding out what you think about:
- The possible risks and benefits of HIV cure research
- How willing you would be to volunteer in clinical studies related to HIV cure research
- How willing you would be to take risks as part of HIV cure research
- Things you think could help or hinder HIV cure studies
The principal investigator is Karine Dubé, doctoral candidate at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and the co-investigator is Jeff Taylor, co-leader of the CARE Community Advisory Board.
