On September 26, 2024, The Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation (ETAF) hosted its fifth annual Ball to End AIDS at the Beverly Hills Hotel. Actress Dominique Jackson, best known for her portrayal of Elektra Abundance on the FX series Pose, hosted the gala fundraiser, which this year honored Emmy-, Grammy-, Oscar- and Tony-winning actress Jennifer Hudson and Gap Inc. CEO Richard Dickson. Hudson received the first-ever Elizabeth Taylor Rowdy Activist Award, while Dickson received the Elizabeth Taylor Commitment to End AIDS Award. The event featured an auction held in partnership with Christie’s, a performance by top-selling singer Natasha Bedingfield and a display of select items from the personal archive of ETAF’s Academy Award–winning namesake.

Taylor founded ETAF in 1991 to provide direct care—along with love and moral support—to the most vulnerable people living with HIV and AIDS at the peak of the AIDS epidemic and paid for the nonprofit’s overhead costs herself. Since her death in 2011, her estate has continued to fund ETAF’s work and donates 25% of royalties from the use of her image and likeness to the foundation. Over more than 30 years, ETAF has raised millions of dollars and continues to draw attention to the ongoing HIV crisis via star-studded events.
