The International AIDS Vaccine Initiative (IAVI) has selected Alex Godwin Coutinho, MD, as chair of its board of directors, according to an IAVI statement. He is executive director of the Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI) in Uganda. He previously was executive director of The AIDS Support Organization (TASO) in Uganda. Coutinho joined the IAVI board in 2008. He served as chair of its compensation committee and a member of its audit and finance committee. He succeeds Paul Klingenstein, managing partner of health care investor Aberdare Ventures, who continues to serve as a board member.
