Under the new state bill signed by Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker, public schools teaching sex education will be required to promote abstinence and marriage as the only reliable way to prevent pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections (STIs), such as HIV, the Journal Sentinel reports. The bill also allows public schools to teach abstinence-only sex-ed courses, which often exclude information on condom use and safer sex.
