March 21, 2006—Polymer injections helped fill out the hollowed cheeks of HIV positive subjects suffering from lipoatrophy—with few side effects—according to a study in the Archives of Dermatology. The FDA approved the product under the brand name Sculptra in 2004; this study was the first to look at the product’s use on an outpatient basis.
