Five AIDS activists were arrested Thursday morning, September 23, after a die-in protest that blocked the entrance to New York Governor David Paterson’s Manhattan office, according to a press release from the New York City AIDS Housing Network (NYCAHN). Seventy-five others performed a die-in out in the street. The activists were protesting the governor’s Saturday veto of a bill that would have limited rent contributions for clients of HIV/AIDS Services Administration (HASA) to 30 percent of their disability income. Activists attribute the veto to Mayor Michael Bloomberg and claim that he lied regarding the costs of the bill.
