After vetoing a bill to provide rental assistance to clients of New York City’s HIV/AIDS Services Administration (HASA), New York Governor David Paterson has expressed an interest in paying for such assistance out of federal funds, Gay City News reports. Many HASA clients currently spend up to 70 percent of their income on rent. The bill would have capped that amount to 30 percent. Advocacy groups have been pushing for an alternative solution since he vetoed the bill on September 18.
