In April, Lifetime premiered Homeless to Harvard: The Liz Murray Story, a docudrama about a neggie teen, homeless after her mom’s AIDS death, who earned a Harvard scholarship [see “Generation AIDS,” June 2001]…New York ASO Praxis, ex-employer to Liz and Eve Abzug (daughters of late congressperson Bella Abzug), was investigated for misuse of funds…A judge dismissed AIDS Healthcare Foundation’s (AHF) lawsuit challenging GlaxoSmithKline’s AZT patent; AHF filed an amended suit in April. In memoriam: ACT UP/San Francisco AIDS dissident Ronnie Burk died March 12 at 47—“of natural causes,” the Associated Press reported… Unable to get meds, Edward Mabunda, 36, a founder of South Africa’s Treatment Action Campaign, died of AIDS April 9... Presbyterian minister Howard Warren Jr., 68, self-dubbed “God’s glorious gadfly” and voice for gays in the clergy, died of AIDS March 14.
