A study has uncovered previously unknown data on the HIV/AIDS epidemics in the Middle East and North Africa, IRIN News reports. The results are revealing the clearest picture so far of HIV prevalence in this area. For example, the HIV epidemics of Egypt and Tunisia have started among men who sex with men and are spreading to injection drug users instead of the other way around, which is usually the case in this region. Experts believe this study will help develop an HIV/AIDS strategy for the region.
