Life Ball, the annual HIV/AIDS fund-raiser in Austria, celebrated 20 years of creative and outrageous fashions, of celebrities sashaying down the magenta carpet and of models strutting their stuff on the Red Ribbon Catwalk and partying until dawn—all in the name of HIV/AIDS charities worldwide.
The 2012 installment was held May 18 at Vienna’s City Hall building. The A-list attendees included Brigitte Nielsen, Antonio Banderas, Heather Mills, Lydia Hearst, Austrian President Heinz Fischer and his wife Margit and fashion designer Richie Rich. Professional catwalkers Naomi Campbell, Paulina Porizkova, Alek Wek and Karolina Kurkova modeled the latest couture clothing. Amanda Lepore and amfAR, The Foundation for AIDS Research ambassadors Cheyenne Jackson and Milla Jovovich performed, and former U.S. President Bill Clinton spoke at the Ball.
The event raised $2.6 million (2.1 million euros) for projects such as amfAR, the Clinton Health Access Initiative, MTV’s Staying Alive Foundation, and UNAIDS.
