German federal police and prosecutors are investigating pharmaceutical wholesalers for illegally reselling HIV medications that were meant for Africa, The Local reports. Government-subsidized meds worth tens of millions of euros were gathered in South Africa, repackaged and smuggled back to Germany via Belgium and Switzerland. If convicted, those responsible for the fraud could spend up to 10 years in jail.
