The Community HIV/AIDS Mobilization Project (CHAMP) has ended its operations because of economic challenges, according to a CHAMP statement. In the past seven years, the nonprofit bridged HIV prevention with economic, social and racial justice. Two of CHAMP’s successful initiatives, the HIV Prevention Justice Alliance (HIV PJA) and Project Unshackle, will continue elsewhere. HIV PJA will be housed by the AIDS Foundation of Chicago. Project Unshackle will be housed by the New York City AIDS Housing Network/Voices of Community Activists and Leaders (NYCAHN/VOCAL). Julie Davids, CHAMP’s founder and current director, will stay involved with HIV PJA.
