The Bristol-Myers Squibb Foundation has established a two-year partnership with the World Health Organization (WHO) to fight tuberculosis and HIV coinfection in Africa, according to a Bristol-Myers Squibb (BMS) statement. The initiative aims to work with nongovernmental and community-based health organizations to improve TB screening and broaden access to TB services, especially in areas where HIV is prevalent. The pilot project will cover the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ethiopia, Kenya, South Africa and Tanzania, which collectively encompass one third of the world’s caseload of TB/HIV coinfections.
