HIV Treatment Discrimination Against LGBTs in Zimbabwe
An LGBT group in Zimbabwe alleges discrimination against LGBTs trying to access HIV/AIDS treatment, New Zimbabwe reports. Samuel Matsikure, programs manager of the Association of Gays and Lesbians of Zimbabwe (GALZ), made the claim at a health symposium in the capital city of Harare. He said the discrimination is happening in the rural areas. Matsikure also said the situation could derail efforts to reduce national HIV prevalence, which peaked at more than 26 percent in 1999 and has declined to 15 percent.
