HIV-Positive LGBT Activist William Brandon Lacy Campos Dies

William Brandon Lacy Campos, co-executive director of the New York City–based nonprofit Queers for Economic Justice, has died. He was 35 years old. His body was discovered Friday, November 9. The cause of death and the memorial plans have not yet been released. His father first delivered news of his death on Facebook. In addition to being an openly HIV-positive, gay and multiracial man, Campos was a poet, an author and an activist, as well as a blogger and social media personality. He was the author of the poetry collection It Ain’t Truth If It Doesn’t Hurt and was a contributor to the anthology From Macho to Mariposa: New Gay Latino Fiction.

I'm shocked and saddened by this news! Brandon had over 5,000 friends on FB and he took the time to respond to comments on his FB page. The LGBT Community and the World in general have lost a truly special person!!!
