The 18th annual United States Conference on AIDS (USCA) is taking place October 2 to 5 in San Diego. The largest AIDS-related gathering in the country, USCA is the signature event of the National Minority AIDS Council (NMAC). The confab’s goal is “to increase the strength and diversity of the community-based response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic through education, training, new partnerships, collaboration and networking.”

According to NMAC, this year’s event will once again focus on health care access and ways the Affordable Care Act, a.k.a. Obamacare, can help end the epidemic. Since the event is held in California, the conference will also focus on Latinos. As the largest minority group in the nation, Latinos comprise 16 percent of the population (or 44.3 million people), but they make up 19 percent of new HIV infections.

You can download the USCA2014 conference program, along with full session descriptions, on the NMAC website.
