Millions of Counterfeit Condoms Smuggled into U.K.

Health officials in the United Kingdom claim that millions of counterfeit condoms have been illegally imported in the last 18 months, BBC reports. Made in the Far East, the fake condoms are copies of major brands such as Durex. Experts say the fakes have a high failure rate, so they don’t provide the best protection from sexually transmitted infections or unwanted pregnancies. Officials recommend consumers purchase condoms from reputable retailers.
