Transgender Women 49 Times More Likely to Have HIV
A study of HIV among transgender women shows they are about 49 times more likely to have HIV than other adults of similar reproductive age, The Huffington Post reports. A team of researchers from Johns Hopkins School of Public Health analyzed studies from 15 countries over about a decade. Stefan Baral, MD, the lead researcher, told HuffPost he hopes health care providers and advocates will improve outreach to trans populations.
