Texas HIV-Positive Candidate for Student Body Targeted

A candidate for vice president of the student body at the University of Houston Downtown has been targeted because he is openly gay and HIV positive, the Dallas Voice reports. A flier circulated on the college campus shows a picture of Kristopher Sharp with an X over it. Above it is a headline, “Want AIDS?” Below it is a caption saying not to support his and his running mate’s “homosexual agenda.” On the back of the flier is a copy of a medical document containing his home address, phone number and HIV status. A university spokesperson said that an investigation has been launched.

Whoever done this to this student needs to be punished for the crime. No one needs to be violated because of their HIV status, sexual orientation, gender, race, colour, gender, nationality or religion.

Sad to know that in this day and age there still exists people of the young generation that carries the mentality of the old, meek and ignorant. All the best to Kristopher for being strong and standing up for himself. I hope charges are laid against the person who published what should be private and confidential information.

This is just a sickening situation. I hope those people who did this cruel act to Kristopher get the justice they deserve. Too bad I won't be the judge at their hearing!

1) Tragic as this story is, it might help lay to rest the delusion that the only young gays turning up poz are losers.
2) Whoever released and spread this kid's medical records just ended their career,is at least facing a lawsuit and hopefully jail. It is incumbent upon every single person who doesn't live in the dark ages to make sure they are appropriately punished. We need to keep the heat on the appropriate authorities to make sure whoever did this is found and punished appropriately.

Who ever posted Kristopher's medical documents is considered to be a criminal and be punished severely for disclosing private informations in public.

Go Kristopher!! You've already made strong points with your campaign on disclosure and privacy...Rednecks from Red states behave this way! (I'm from Kansas) Be strong...stay alert on the home front...

Thats really sad! Just goes to show that people are still uneducated and unaccepting of others, even in a school that claims its progressive and open minded.

Hopefully this information is being spread through media outlets across the nation, to expose the levels of ignorance and idiocy that continue to dominate the general social setting, especially regarding truths about health issues and comprehension of human sexuality.
