The folks at Public Health Solutions want to get the word out about Truvada as PrEP, the HIV prevention method in which HIV-negative people take a daily pill as a pre-exposure prophylaxis. To that end, they’ve created three Time2PrEP video spots sure to raise eyebrows—and awareness—in the process.

Each of the three spots focuses on a different angle, but all emphasizes that PrEP is a personal choice.

“I Like To Party” features adult film star J.D. Phoenix and, according to the campaign press release, “targets men whose sexual and recreational drug activities may put them at higher risk for contracting HIV. The video shows J.D. during a night out in a club, complete with dancing, partying and taking his PrEP medication.”

“Lamar and Mario” shows two men about to hook up after meeting on a dating app; one of them knows about PrEP and the other doesn’t.

Then there’s the “PrEP and Love” mini-documentary with several serodiscordant couples—when one person has HIV and the other doesn’t—including Octavia Lewis and Shawn Lopez, a transgender couple recently featured in a POZ cover story. Not all the couples in the video decide to go on PrEP, but they do research it and advocate that others also become informed.

The Time2PrEP campaign is part of a series of HIVBigDeal videos from Public Health Solutions, a New York–based nonprofit health institute.
