Paris Hilton Says Most Gay Guys 'Probably Have AIDS'
In an audiotape, Paris Hilton is heard perpetuating the myth that most gay men have AIDS, RadarOnline.com reports. A New York City taxi driver who had the Hilton Hotels heiress and a gay male friend in his backseat recorded the audiotape.
Hilton says, “Gay guys are the horniest people in the world. They’re disgusting. Dude, most of them probably have AIDS…. I would be so scared if I were a gay guy. You’ll, like, die of AIDS.” Her comments were in response to her gay male friend, who earlier was describing Grindr, a dating mobile app for gay men.
A statement by a Hilton spokesperson said, “The conversation became heated after a close gay friend told her in a cab ride a story about a gay man who has AIDS and is knowingly having unprotected sex…. It was not her intent to make any derogatory comments about all gays.”
UPDATE: In a statement to GLAAD, Hilton offers her apology: "I am so sorry and so upset that I caused pain to my gay friends, fans and their families.... It is the last thing that I would ever want to do and I cannot put into words how much I wish I could take back every word. HIV/AIDS can hurt anyone, gay and straight, men and women. It's something I take very seriously and should not have been thrown around in conversation."

I forgive you, Paris. Sometimes we all say things without realizing the impact. At least you have the decency to apologize.

She talked about guys who hook up with with GPS, not some gay church. It should be understood from the context of the discussion that she wasn't condemning gays, or even people with HIV, but understood the obvious link between sexual activity and infection. Most gay men on grindr probably are HIV+. Even this magazine wrote about how half of them seek unprotected sex. Its worse that we perpetuate the delusion that you can have dozens of random partners and remain "ddf".

Why is anyone even slightly concerned about what someone said in a private conversation? She is entitled to her uneducated opinion. It's apparent she thought she was talking in private directly to a gay friend and if he wasn't bothered by it maybe everyone else should not be either. It doesn't seem to be a public statement. Why isn't anyone else bothered by a conversation being recorded while in a taxicab? It's one thing to take a photo for security reasons, but come on...audio too?

This thoughtless and talentless rich spoiled brat is a reflection of HIV Stigma that persists in middle America..." it.s only with those people" which is helps spread HIV. She only apologized because of the backlash. We should have a "GLAD" FOR HIV.

Southpark's depiction of her was spot on. The only thing she is sorry about is that her conversation was recorded and made public.

WHO THE HELL IS SHE TO ASSUME I am one of her fans? I never have been and never will be now. I'm not angry. He arrogance makes me disdainful. Her self made millions employ many gay men who painstakingly work for low wages in foreign countries to make clothing and accessories. She speaks of her fans? I'm a person who knows her name. What right does she have to assume her fame includes me? Or are the people who are not her fans and their families just not worth apologizing towards?

Seriously... pot meet kettle. As slutty as she is Paris probably has AIDS. Like those of us living with this didn't have enough problems, now we are being judged by a person who became famous for being a slag.

And she was so in the running for the next Nobel in Physiology and Medicine...this could really have damamged her chances.

This does not come as any surprise to me, especially when Paris Hilton has repeatedly used the [n-word] to refer to Blacks. I think Gay people need to be really careful about which celebrities they may hold in high esteem.
I think her apology is forced and is all about PR. If she was really as regretful as she claimed to be, she would have never made such an ignorant statement.

As a man who found out in 1984 that I was Positive, I was not diagnosed with Full blown AIDS until 1990. That Paris or anyone, is ignorant about the big different between being HIV Positive and Full Blown AIDS is disturbing to say the least. Equally disturbing is that so many gay men who fully well know the risks of unprotected sex, still do so. The dialog should be about why some have unprotected sex. My fellow black folk are being decimated by HIV/AIDS in higher numbers than any others. Sigh!
