MSU Launches HIV Registry Including Rural Patients
The new HIV registry launched by Michigan State University (MSU) will be one of the first in the country to include people from rural areas, according to an MSU statement. It will include both biological data and socioeconomic characteristics, which will allow researchers to expand their inquiries into topics such as how marijuana affects HIV and why some people with the virus can keep it under control without treatment. The database is still under construction, but patient consent forms are being gathered. All information will be de-identified and confidential.
