McCain and Obama to Discuss HIV at Church Forum

Sens. John McCain and Barack Obama will make a joint appearance onstage with the Rev. Rick Warren on August 16 at his church in Lake Forest, California, for interviews on decision making, HIV/AIDS, poverty and the environment, The New York Times reports (7/21).

According to the article, the forum will likely be the only time the presidential candidates appear together before their party conventions in the end of August.

“Since I’m their friend, I’m not going to give them any ‘gotcha’ questions,” Warren said, adding that a typical query would be, “What’s the most difficult decision you’ve had to make, and how did you make it?”

Do not trust what comes out of their mouths during the campaign but, look at their voting records on HIV/AIDS in their states along with the big bills. You may learn something about where the truth lies.

I would like to know what their opinions are of the very unequal as well as varied access to med's that each state has. We live in MD, so access is fairly decent. We do have friends in TN who never know if the next month's meds will get to them. Also, the cost of the meds vary extremely state-to-state, from as much as 25%-50%. Dental care is extremely inadequate unless one has insurance, nd dental care is a huge health issue for those with HIV/AIDS.

"I'm HIV positive and diabetic (as well as have high cholesterol) and some of my meds specify taking them with 'high fat foods' which I have to do twice a day. I've eaten as healthy as possible, but when it comes to high fat foods, I am in a quandary...about what to eat sometimes..."
