Endowed by the Mattel Children’s Foundation and managed by the California Community Foundation, the new Joseph A. Cristina HIV/AIDS Children’s Fund will give grants to nonprofit groups that support children in the United States affected by the virus, according to a Mattel statement. The new fund is named after a former Mattel Inc. executive who lives with HIV. Cristina led the Children Affected by AIDS Foundation for more than a decade before it merged with Keep a Child Alive this past June.
