The government of Kenya has signed a memorandum of understanding with a private company to produce condoms and other rubber products locally, allAfrica.com reports. The East Africa Latex Manufacturing Company would begin production in December. The government would be a major buyer of condoms as well as rubber gloves used by hospitals. The venture will save the Kenyan government tens of thousands of U.S. dollars that it currently spends to import these products.
