Plans for a human trial of a promising U.S. HIV vaccine were halted July 17, The New York Times reports (nytimes.com 7/18). Efforts to develop any HIV vaccine have been 24 years in the making.
Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, canceled the tests, citing the need for more research and animal testing.
“Show me that the vaccine works by lowering the amount of HIV in the blood,” Dr. Fauci said. “Then we will move to a larger trial that will document the link with a particular immune response.” He added that until then, “doing a large trial is not justified.”

"I'm HIV positive and diabetic (as well as have high cholesterol) and some of my meds specify taking them with 'high fat foods' which I have to do twice a day. I've eaten as healthy as possible, but when it comes to high fat foods, I am in a quandary...about what to eat sometimes..."
