New Anthony Weiner Details Distract NYC HIV Mayoral Forum

The HIV Mayoral Forum in New York City hosted by GMHC on Tuesday, July 23, was overshadowed by new revelations about Anthony Weiner, Gay City News reports. The former congressmember held a press conference at GMHC’s offices just prior to the forum to address additional sexting allegations.

Weiner was one of seven candidates in attendance, which included former Councilmember Sal Albanese, former Bronx Borough President Adolfo Carrion, Randy Credico, Public Advocate Bill DeBlasio, Comptroller John Liu and former Comptroller Bill Thompson. City Council Speaker Christine Quinn could not attend because she was with her sick elderly father.

The forum addressed concerns over HIV/AIDS budgeting, the city’s HIV/AIDS Services Administration and a proposed 30 percent rent cap for HIV-positive New Yorkers on public assistance. POZ editor-in-chief Oriol Gutierrez moderated the forum.
