France will give the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria $1.4 billion for the 2014–2016 period, according to a Global Fund statement. The support reaffirms France’s role as the largest contributor from Europe and the second largest worldwide, after the United States. Since 2011, up to 5 percent of France’s contributions to the Global Fund have gone to capacity-building programs in French-speaking countries.
