The writers of General Hospital have brought back a fictional HIV/AIDS charity event to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the ABC soap opera, TheCelebrityCafe.com reports. The Nurses’ Ball was an annual event from 1994 to 2001. For the anniversary, the event is dedicated to the character of Robin Scorpio-Drake, MD, played by Kimberly McCullough. The love story of the character contracting AIDS from her boyfriend is a fan favorite. This marks the first time the event is linked to a nonfictional charity, amfAR, The Foundation for AIDS Research. The soap opera first aired April 1, 1963.
