"Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell" as HIV Prevention?

A House subcommittee met July 23 to re-examine the U.S. military’s “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy for the first time in 15 years, the Chicago Tribune reports (chicagotribune.com, 7/24).

A heated topic of discussion during the two and a half hour debate was whether allowing gays to serve openly might increase HIV prevalence among service members. This assertion was made by Elaine Donnelly of the Center for Military Readiness, which opposes gays serving openly in the military.

Rep. Vic Snyder (D–AR) debunked Donnelly’s argument, calling it “inappropriate.” He added that under such logic “you ought to recruit only lesbians to the military because they have the lowest incidence of HIV.”

This is interesting since nobody has mentioned that Obama is for reversing don't ask don't tell I was in the military before don't ask don't tell and was miserable the people in the military now that I know are very comfortable amazing how one person can change things not only for the better of some the people as Obama says, but worse for the whole gay community at least president Clinton who approved don't ask don't tell was committed and heard our voices in the gay community Thank you

"I'm HIV positive and diabetic (as well as have high cholesterol) and some of my meds specify taking them with 'high fat foods' which I have to do twice a day. I've eaten as healthy as possible, but when it comes to high fat foods, I am in a quandary...about what to eat sometimes..."
