Two Florida Men Accused of HIV Nondisclosure to Minor

Two men in Florida have been arrested on several counts of sexual assault of a minor, the Sun Sentinel reports. Darrell Allen Evans, 40, and Huy Kien Trinh, 32, met a 16-year-old male using the gay mobile dating app Grindr. They allegedly had unprotected sex with the minor without revealing their HIV-positive status to him. The police claim that Evans and Trinh confessed to regularly having unprotected sex with other males without disclosing they have the virus. A judge set bail for Evans at $410,000 and for Trinh at $420,000, which neither have posted.

In this premeditated manner these devious Homosexuals should be treated just like any devious Heterosexual for they have no defense in their actions or evil plot to destroy someone's life. The whiners in Florida needs to wake up for some gay people are evil, just like some straight folks. This Grinder APP is another tool for sex addicts that do not have an once of direction in their life and desperately looking for a crumble of love and needs to be shout down or suite by parents for Millions.

These 2 are scum, I find it sad and appalling that there are actually people who would defend their actions against this child.

Edea Udu, Port Moresby, 2013-02-06 20:14:54
These two men are so very stupid to have done that. They need to be in prison for the rest of their lives. Give them hard labour for intentionally infecting those they had unprotected sex with.

I feel that they should go to jail. They r spreading hiv to young people. Having a disease and willingly exposing people is a crime. It is assault against the person. it u hit a person, you would go to jail. This is a life changing event, and if the 16 yr old gets hiv, the charges should go up to intent to murder. Just cause u have hiv a crime is still a crime. Actions that harm people are crimes.

This is just sad. Yes we are told this is a chronic disease so I don't understand such a harsh sentencing. I think that lenghty sentences are another reason for the stigma we face. Its sad I hope the 16yo is neg. I found out after testing pos and my partner admitted he'd known five years prior and never said anything. At first I wished death on him and now I just feel pity for him he was lonely and I was naive soooooooo

Several issues here - first, 16 year old on Grindr is either really lying about his age, or these two are just sick pedophiles. Second, the fact that the three of them engaged in unprotected sex in this day and age is mind numbing. Finally, Jeff Hamlin, you posted "undetectable" have a slim chance of infecting anyone. Really? I recommend you change doctors if that's what you're being told. Undetectable simply means your viral load is under a certain threshold, but darling its still there . .

I have hiv and been on meds for 10yrs now and i'm undectable, and all of us that have responded well to the meds have a very slim chance of infecting anyone.

Doesn't that beg the question what kind of sex education, if any, did this young man have? Surely the onus is not solely on the older men. Everyone who has sex needs to be safe, always. And yes, parents, 16 year olds do have sex. Get educated!

I dont believe in criminalization. But if your partner asks you if you are HIV+ and you LIE to them and say no (which is what these two stains on society did), THATS what needs to be dealt with. Im not even in my mid 20s and this just breaks me, b/c this is what happened to me 2 years ago...not shifting the blame, just saying.

Rick., Florida, 2013-01-24 23:02:23
What they did was wrong! But it's 2013 and everyone knows that aids is real. They teach it in grammar school, highschool etc. They are all to be blamed! Knowone is innocent here. Aids is old news.

I feel what Evans and Trinh were doing was a crime.......We all know the fueled with meth we all can do very "dumb things".....but this is not a "dumb thing" this is a crime....

Having been HIV positive since 1985 I am blessed to be alive and healthy. All of these three men deserve our compassion and nothing less. It is a horrible story and nothing good will come by putting these two men in jail. Hopefully the 16 year old will not contract the virus and will get counselling and use his experience as a way to reach out to other young men about the risk of unprotected sex.

Todd Matthew, boston, 2013-01-24 13:48:19
here is where i get lost. those of us with HIV are told (as is everyone now--i have had the disease since the early 80's) that we have a "chronic treatable" disease. so, how to we stretch giving someone a chronic treatable disease to murder? i make no comment about these men or the situation. i am just very curious about how the media and the medical community have put an "it's not big deal, like diabetes".... yet should i pass this on to someone i might be murdering them? HUH?

Giles Gledhill, Birmingham England, 2013-01-24 13:23:19
sickos. what right have they got playing God with another's life hope they get what's coming to them. I myself. are gay and HIV positive. and would never do what these guys have hope they rot in prison

James Oscar Tribett, Bloomington, 2013-01-24 10:18:23
I don't feel sorry for these guys they need to be put under the jail.
